UPDATES

This year’s crop is back to its normal volumes, with over 20,000 tonnes forecast. Making sure that our WA customers know our fruit is in market, we launched the industry digital marketing campaign in June.

Words Joseph Ling, Committee Chair, WA Citrus

SOCIAL media channels are the basis of the campaign with posts and ads on Facebook, Instagram and Tik Tok until September. If you haven’t already done so, please help us make sure that everyone in WA knows that WA grown citrus is available, nutritious and delicious.

You can ‘Share’, ‘Like’ or ‘Comment’ our posts at #WACitrus on one of our platforms (Facebook, Instagram and Tik Tok). While you’re there, posts some of your own photos from the orchard or your customers with your fantastic fruit.

Building on last quarter, we have more exciting news at the industry level, which is that Damien Guthrey joined the WA Citrus committee. Damien is the General Manager at Northern Valley Packers, based in Bindoon, with a large packshed and planting of clementines.

Damien has been a familiar face and voice in the WA citrus industry for at least 10 years, providing insight into markets at field days and new tech at last year’s regional forum.

Damien Guthrey has joined the WA Citrus committee.

Damien brings to the committee skills and knowledge about markets, import/export, customer engagement and marketing from his experience throughout the supply chain. Plus, his family background in stonefruit and persimmons on the east coast. Thanks to Damien for his commitment and we look forward to his input.

Also welcome to Tracey and Rob Potter, new growers to the Bindoon area. They recently bought an orchard in Settlement Road. New to horticulture they have been busy learning — attending the irrigation workshop and visiting Canning Vale markets. A shout out to the Reids, citrus growers from Manjimup who they bumped in to at the markets! Please make Tracey and Rob feel welcome should you bump into them at an industry event or around the district.
