Plating Up WA returns this June: 30 days of tasting your way across WA
Plating UP WA returns this June, seeing winter’s ingredients inspire gastronomic creations come to life statewide. Plating Up WA runs for 30 days and will showcase special dishes loaded with Western Australia’s best seasonal ingredients, available at locations all over the State, thanks to the campaign initiated by the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development’s Buy West Eat Best program.
Now in its seventh year, Western Australia’s food, beverage, food service and hospitality industries are using their skills to plate up dishes that honour the amazing food and beverages we have on offer. Options will vary from casual to fine dining, bar snacks to wineries, pubs and taverns, desirable desserts to gorgeous grazing boards. Diners will find mouth-watering options to suit both their tastes and budgets.
Previous campaigns have provided a significant boost to local food service and hospitality during what is traditionally a challenging time of the year as people hibernate from winter chills, with over 250 venues taking part to date.
Young George Dish: Charred seasonal carrots, barley and Block275 mayonnaise.
Veg focused dishes are a key highlight for many participating venues.
Bib and Tucker Dish: Mushroom Guys mushrooms, nettle and potato risotto, La Delizia stracciatella.
The campaign offers an ideal platform to celebrate and showcase WA veggies, Melissa Worthington, Program Manager Buy West Eat Best says, “last year’s campaign saw 48 venues from all over WA including Kalbarri, Geraldton, Pemberton, Manjimup, Waroona, Swan Valley, Perth and Fremantle participate, with several dishes featuring vegetables as hero ingredients.
Each participating venue receives an ingredient register (or shopping list) of Buy West Eat Best members to consider in their dish creation — helping to connect local producers with venues and suppliers, as well as bringing attention to new ingredients and artisan producers the campaign offers an ideal opportunity to celebrate the best of winter veg.
