From theindustryBY JOSEPH LING CHAIR, WA CITRUSThe season has been relatively strong for navel oranges and mandarins helping to offset the increased input costs we’re all experiencing.More good news is our business, industry and market development project has been funded for another 5 years. This project allows us to employ Bronwyn and Elbe as industry development staff to do research in internal and external fruit quality in WA, industry and stakeholder engagement and support the committee. The citrus fee for service and DPIRD funding contribute to this project.
If you’re interested in having a say in the future direction of the industry, there is a vacancy on the industry committee for a fee for service paying producer.
Committee members serve for a 3-year term and meet about 4 times per year, online and in-person for up to 3 hours per meeting.
The industry strategy review is also underway as another opportunity to provide input to industry direction. Unfortunately, Kate Cox (our administrative officer) will be leaving us to take on full-time employment.
Kate has been supporting WA Citrus for close to five years. Her wealth of experience has helped us be a professional organisation with clear governance and financial management. She also did an outstanding job of behind-the-scenes logistics for events and communications. Her services, good nature and professionalism will be sorely missed.
Please contact myself or one of the WA Citrus officers if you would like more information on any topic or to provide feedback.
