Industry representation and updates

Since returning full-time to her industry development role, Bronwyn has hit the ground running.

She recently represented the industry during a visit from a Chinese delegation and in August was the national citrus pest and disease prevention committee that Bronwyn sits on, and is led by Jessica Lye, the Citrus Biosecurity Manager has been assisting growers with queries about new plantings and orchard management issues. She has also packed up the citrus office at the South Perth DPIRD site, marking the beginning of a new chapter for the industry.

Meanwhile, Helen Newman continues her diligent work monitoring the expansion of the Polyphagous shothole borer quarantine zone. This pest does not pose a significant threat to citrus orchards, however the movement protocols related to the quarantine zone may indirectly affect citrus growers. Stay tuned for updates and recommendations.

Looking for a quick way to stay informed and engaged with the citrus industry? Three times a year, we hold meetings where growers can connect. These gatherings offer a chance to exchange knowledge, discuss pressing issues, and network with fellow growers, online or in-person.

If you’d like to learn more about joining the Committee, or if you have any other industry-related questions, feel free to reach out to me, Joseph, or any of the current Committee members.

We look forward to seeing you at our regional forum on 19th November. Let’s continue to grow, innovate, and collaborate for a stronger citrus industry!
