POMEWEST agricultural show
We had a fantastic time at this year’s Perth Royal Agricultural Show, where we participated and interacted with the agricultural community for eight great days!

Delighted customers with their first apple slinkies of the show.
TEAMING up with Fruit West Cooperative and WA Farm Direct, we thoroughly enjoyed being part of the event again this year and sharing our passion for apples and pears with consumers in Western Australia and all the dedicated fans. It was wonderful to connect and discuss everything related to apples!
This year was no exception; beautiful weather for most of the week contributed to excellent results for the industry, especially considering the modest cost of holding the event. The success was thanks to the generous contributions of fruit and resources from Pomewest, Fruit West, and WA Farm Direct and the dedicated participation and energy of the entire team manning the stand. Again, thanks go to Noelene from Fresh Finesse for her outstanding project management this year.
The chosen location was ideal for attracting families eager to enhance their understanding of agriculture’s true value, particularly in producing fresh and natural food products.
The distribution of fresh fruit further enhanced the RASWA Yellow Brick Road Discovery activity, which effectively increased foot traffic in the pavilion and led to more apples being consumed. Show attendance was impressive, with over 439,000 visitors, attributed to government support for free entry for children and half-price admission for adults.
Feedback from our customers included several recurring comments:
“Purchasing our apple slinkies has become a show tradition over the years.”
“It is so refreshing to purchase a healthy and cost-effective snack at the show for the whole family to enjoy.”
“The first time we tried a Bravo apple was at the Perth Royal Show, and we have been in love ever since.”
4,952 apples were distributed at a minimal handling cost, representing a 6% increase from 2023. Many attendees expressed interest in trying “slinkied” pears.
Throughout our conversations, there were no comments about apples or pears being expensive in retail; instead, many participants emphasised the importance of fruit, particularly in children’s diets.
We seized the opportunity to promote fruit as a snack that can be enjoyed with “no snack regrets.” This aligns with the key message of the national marketing campaign, which encourages light buyers to explore the apple and pear aisles we are keen to support at all our events.

Additionally, we had numerous opportunities to highlight the Western Australia pome industry through three radio interviews, an appearance on Channel 9 news, and various visits from politicians and VIPs to our stand.
Well done to everyone involved and thank you to the WA apple and pear growers for trusting and investing in us again to support your interests.
