IF you are interested in the latest practical technology in horticulture and the global food production landscape, then don’t miss this year’s WA Horticulture Update (WAHU) – staged October 31 to November 1 at Ascot Racecourse. Join dynamic industry leaders as they share their experiences and knowledge in adapting to changing technology, consumer expectations and operating environments.

The Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (DPIRD) is hosting the two-day industry expo, with support from Hort Innovation, Isolcell, Coles Supermarkets and Ecogrowth to showcase the latest in business development and research innovations.

“ ... discussions will capture the different perspectives of leading industry groups on the future of horticulture ...

Learn from Leaders

DPIRD horticulture and irrigated agriculture director Rohan Prince says the update offers the chance to learn from leaders on how to build capacity and remain competitive through a range of presentations, panel discussions, breakout sessions, trade show exhibits and machinery displays, all with plenty of networking opportunities.

A respected global speaker on the future of food, Mike Lee will headline the conference and share his knowledge on artificial intelligence (AI) in food production. Panel discussions will capture the different perspectives of leading industry groups on the future of horticulture and how to maintain quality from farm to consumer. Other presentations cover future trends, irradiation, emerging consumer trends, sustainability and alternatively fueled farm machinery.

“The WA hort update is a great opportunity for all those involved in the industry to build capacity, remain competitive and learn more about changing technology and how to address challenges and opportunities facing our industry now and in the future,” Rohan said.
