On October 25, 2022, the second annual Meet the Buyer trade exhibition was hosted by Buy West Eat Best. The event was an opportunity for Western Australian businesses to showcase their premium food and beverages to domestic and international markets.

More than 80 WA businesses had the opportunity to meet with independent and national retailers, distributors, wholesalers, chefs, educators, students, food service and caterers. The event provided a platform for these producers to connect to buyers to help them grow their businesses and extend supply chain networks.

vegetablesWA took part as an exhibitor this year and showcased the vegetable industry in Western Australia, the role of the Association and displayed a range of superb produce from Loose Leaf Lettuce, Love Apple and WA Corn Growers. We want to thank those who contributed produce for the display.

vegetablesWA CEO Stephen Brown said it was a fantastic opportunity to promote the vegetable industry in WA and their produce to domestic and international markets.

“It was great seeing growers and food producers promote their brands and products at the event. It is a huge opportunity for WA food producers to network and meet with buyers and suppliers and seeing growers and industry stakeholders partake in the event is excellent.

“ We will be participating in the event next year and look forward to showcasing the industry and more of our member’s produce,Mr Brown said. ”

Georgia Thomas, Senior Project Manager from WA Potatoes, said the event was the best place in WA to network and connect with local food and beverage supply chain participants.

“WA Potatoes have exhibited twice now at Meet the Buyer and each time have been able to meet and chat with key contacts in our industry about a range of programs and activities our organisation delivers. We have also had the opportunity to showcase our growers, such as Damper Gully Farms,” she said.

DPIRD Acting Executive Director Agribusiness, Food and Trade Susan Hall said Meet the Buyer provided a pathway for businesses and buyers to explore new products and market opportunities to take their business to the next level.

“A range of quality WA products are part of the exhibition, including locally grown beef, goat and lamb, a selection of premium seafood, seasonal fruit and vegetables, honey, dairy products and olive oils,” Ms Hall said.

“There is also a range of value-added groceries including chilli sauces, curries, nougat and granola, as well as artisan bakery goods, products made from chickpeas, lupin, apricots, vanilla, native ingredients as well as regional wines, craft beers and distillery spirits.”

A fantastic opportunity to promote the vegetable industry in WA.

Last year’s inaugural Meet the Buyer event was a huge success, with several WA businesses, who are also Buy West East Best members, effectively getting their products onto retail shelves, menus and beverage lists around Australia.
